5 Ways to Find Fulfillment and Purpose Throughout Life

by
Christie

The experiences that we navigate throughout life mold us into who we are, but it is the intention behind each of our actions that makes our life worthwhile.

Through our triumphs and failures we learn about life, love, resilience, strength, and, most importantly, ourselves. At the heart of all we do is our purpose - the compass that provides direction as we navigate uncharted situations with grace and courage <link to other blog>. Most importantly, we’re given the opportunity to assess why it all matters and what role we play in the grand scheme of things. No one ever said that life is without its ups and downs—but isn’t that part of what makes it so exciting?

My own purpose is to be my best self, for me and for my loved ones.

I feel good about who I am. I’ve invested in myself. I accept my personality traits, character flaws and failures, and indulge the unique sides of me - the serious side, the silly side, the loving side, the nurturing side.  As a result, I’m more attuned to my own needs, and it is truly a gift.

Self-care is a purpose in and of itself

It’s imperative that we show ourselves the same love that we are graciously granting to others. Cherish the restorative process and create a ritual of self care, which I am reminded, is a constant work in process. We lead busy multifaceted lives,  and it’s kind to yourself to pause and do what you need to rebalance and refocus. Take a breather. Go for a walk. Take a minute for yourself. This goes for physical care, and also mental, spiritual and emotional care. Turn inward to nurture your mind, body, and spirit as much as you can.

Getting older is a gift

It’s easy to think of aging as taboo but I relish in the fact that age has granted me wisdom, strength, experience, and knowledge of self. At 52, I am more mature, wiser, confident and comfortable in my own skin. I’m active and I’m discovering new parts of myself that I never had indulged. I feel like I’ve finally been able to evolve in who I am for me and not just spend my time performing for others. I always say that getting older is when you start living your best self.

Looking forward, I am excited for the upcoming chapters of life. Aging has given me the confidence to know that the best is yet to come!
